The composition is heavily inspired by Indonesian Gamelan music, Korean music for Daegum, Japanese koto and shakuhachi music, Japanese folk tales and by the music of Toru Takemitsu.
It is commissioned by and dedicated to performers Rosemary Soenen, Joyce To, Boyce Jeffries and Jin Cho.
